- Implement activities developed by teacher/instructor/student
- Document children's behavior
Things to consider when planning activities:
= should activities be done in a small or large group
= know that when a new skill is being learned children will need to repeat it over and over
= prepare an introduction, such as a stuffed animal or song
= Be flexable, if something is taking longer than you thought send a few children off to do something else and come back
= have material ready befor you start. I get everything ready and together for art the day befor that way kids dont have to sit and wait while you are getting things out.
What to condsider when reading books to children:
When choosing a book to read chose one you know well. Books should have a simple plot and subject. Chose book that have large picture and you can expand on. Read through the book several times.Use props if possible.Tie transition time into the book. If you read a book about a cat meow like a cat on the way to the bathroom. My class realy like the david books right now. I think I have them memorized. But I love there reactions to davids misbehavior. For example when david breaks the window with the bat and ball, we talk about where we play baseball. Outside there is more room and to hit the ball away from buildings.
Observations:
= informal assessment of a child progress
= can be done at any time and length of time
= can observe more than one child at a time
= can be used with other assessment measures
